The highlight of this week’s eats was a hearty Sunday brunch at The Farmhouse, located in River Market. The menu is made up of classic comfort foods, incorporating local farmers and seasonal produce. Pictured above, a few flapjacks ($6.50) topped with warm sliced peaches and powdered sugar makes the perfect breakfast starter.

My beautiful brunch finale was the Eggs Benedict ($10) with Missouri ham, brioche, poached farm eggs, and Hollandaise. The highlight of this dish was the combo of tender and salty shaved ham and buttery brioche. Without a doubt one of the better eggs benedict I’ve had in town. Order with a side of fried potato hash ($2) for a delicious carb-loaded treat. The homemade ketchup is made with fresh herbs and rich tomato flavors.
Atmosphere is important and The Farmhouse has it. Brick walls, open windows and wood accents give off a welcome, airy feel. Although the outdoor patio is fabulous, if you sit at the bar you’ll not only get your drinks quicker, but you can take in the rooster-themed artwork.
