I’m still on a food high after leaving Unforked today in Overland Park.
Unforked is Kansas City’s first healthy restaurant to provide on-the-go, organic and natural eats. Yes, there’s a drive through if you want your Awesome Ahi on-the-fly. However, the inside is so modern and chic, you’ll feel pretty cool eating indoors.
Decisions, decisions. The menu includes salads, burgers, tacos, quesadillas, and CUSTARD (we’ll get to that later).
I went with the Veggie Burger and K Fries.
This is unlike any vegetarian burger I’ve had. The grilled portobello mushroom is marinated perfectly and sandwiched between a toasted egg bun. Fresh lettuce, garden grown tomato, and UNspread (Unforked’s equivalent to McDonald’s ‘special sauce’) lay within the sandwich.
It’s so phenomenally fantastic you don’t even miss the meat!
The K Fries: made from Kennebec potatoes, hand cut, fried, and sprinkled with sea salt. Delish.
Anyone can appreciate a good french fry but I was so distracted by the desserts I couldn’t focus!
When you’re at the eatery of all eateries you have to unbutton the pants and dig in. Life is too short to order only one dessert.
Feast your eyes on the “Hunk of Love”…the most fitting name for this dessert (and I didn’t even name it!). Believe it or not there is a warm and gooey chocolate chip cookie under all that melted caramel and hot fudge. Vanilla custard sits on top.
Certain flavors will cross your palate that will change your tastebuds forever. The Lemon Lush Concrete is it for me. Vanilla custard intertwines with huge chunks of freshly made lemon bars. Check out the lemon bar on top! Unforked‘s custard is truly unique in that it’s made with only five ingredients: organic milk, cream, eggs, sugar and vanilla.
